The way we do it...

Our ultimate aim is to establish a professional grade studio, which will be open to assist in the creation and broadcast of radio programmes with a local focus. In addition, the studio will be open to individuals, community groups and educational establishments for the purpose of media and technology training, and to facilitate the creation of other audio media.

The broadcast of radio programmes will run through a series of trial RSL (Restricted Service License) broadcasts on FM to gauge the successes and weaknesses of the project, to allow us to make any improvements where necessary, and also to demonstrate demand before applying to Ofcom (the communications regulator) for a full time Community FM license.

Programmes produced will be underpinned with a social and economic gain. We will work with key partner organisations to reach the aim of reducing crime, promoting jobs, aiding job seekers, supporting the development of social cohesion, promoting community initiatives and organisation, promoting health messages, building and creating sustainable businesses and enterprise and finally building an ethos of identity and civic pride – unifying the former district council areas. We will provide genuine broadcast experience and training to individuals and community groups and will be entertaining as well as informative.
